January 22nd, 2009 was the 36th anniversary of the two U.S. Supreme Court decisions that erased all individual states' laws restricting or outlawing abortion. Since that day our nation has put to death an average of 3,000 babies each and every day.
This year, through the generosity of a local Bedford County church, who paid for half the cost of a Bollman bus, 51 of us, mostly from Bedford County, were able to join the "March for Life." It was estimated that over 250,000 people gathered on the Mall in Washington to march to the U.S. Supreme Court in opposition to those disastrous decisions and to implore the nine justices to overturn the ill informed decisions made in 1973.

Finally, federal funding to research that requires the destruction of human life, embryonic stem cell research is in danger of being implemented on a grand scale during the Obama administration.
The media generally reports that federal funds are denied for all stem cell research. That is false. Hundreds of millions of federal dollars have been authorized for adult stem cell research, which does not require the killing of a human embryo, does not present rejection problems as embryonic stem cell research does, and has been successful in treating hundreds of thousands of patients in 73 different treatment areas.
The big news is that in November of 2007 two different groups of scientists discovered how to make ordinary adult skin cells "behave" like embryonic stem cells in the sense that they have the capability to change into every other cell in the human body.
Our hope is that this new discovery will turn researchers, investors, and the media away from costly and unsuccessful embryonic stem cell research, which requires the destruction of human embryos.
Every biologist knows that it is a scientific fact that a human embryo is a human being and yet the U.S. has no laws against embryonic stem cell research and very limited laws on cloning.

If your representative has voted pro-life or cosponsored a pro-life bill, call him or her and thank him. Let them know that you appreciate their pro-life votes, remind them of your pro-life ideals, and encourage them to stay the course.
If your representative has not yet cosponsored a pro-life bill, ask him to.
If your representative has voted against life, let him know your dismay. Express the life facts and citizen responsibilities surrounding the issue.

If he or she has cosponsored a pro-choice bill, learn the facts and ask him to reconsider. If you know that your representative is pro-choice don't bring up a pro-life argument that is likely to be dismissed.
For example, being pro-life you know that embryonic stem cell research (ESCR) kills a human being. Currently, legislation is before Congress, not to make it legal, it already is, but to fund it! When you call or email your representative, tell them that you consider ESCR failed research that has been marketed on the hype of "potential" and that it is a waste of your tax dollar.
Get specific. · Tell your representative that after 25 years of research, there has been NO successes - not even ONE! Point out that Adult stem cell research has helped hundreds of thousands of people in over 70 areas of treatment including Parkinsons and that you would like to see funding of successful research. · Point out that the Bio-Tech industry has gone through billions of dollars from private investors who are reluctant to invest any more. The Bio-Tech industry is literally banking on the hope that legislatures will not see pass the pro-life/pro-choice controversy to find out how much has already been spent on this failed research. · Point out the deceptions that the Bio-Tech industry is using to keep the false hope of "potential" alive: · It is true that Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs) grow into every type of cell in the body. We are all living testimonies of that. However, ESCs have only done so in the womb! - NEVER in the laboratory! · It is true that ESCs grow much faster than Adult Stem Cells (ASCs). However, ESCs grow uncontrolably fast have only ever turned in tumors many of which have been cancerous. ALL laboratory animals injected with ESCs have died! · Point out that if ESCR should ever have a success, cloning will have to be implemented in order to deal with rejection problems.

The Declaration of Independence states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
The term "all men" has always meant "all human beings" and it is a biological fact that an embryo from a human being is a human being. So, "all men are created equal." The debate is, "When are men/human beings created?" Biology says from the moment of fertilization. Is it greed, arrogance, or ignorance that keeps some people from following such simple logic?
