The History of Abortion in America
Ex-abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson, personally responsible for 75,000 abortions, comes forward in his Confession of an Ex-Abortionist. As founder of NARAL, the National Association for the Repeal of the Abortion Laws, he outlines the strategy NARAL used to convince the U.S. Supreme Court to issue the decisions that legalized abortion on demand in 1973: 1. Capture the Media a. NARAL advertised fictional polls stating that 60% of Americans were in favor of permissive abortion. b. NARAL fabricated the number of illegal abortions done annually in the U.S. "The actual figure was approaching 100,000 but the figure we gave to the media repeatedly was 1,000,000." c. NARAL fabricated the number of women dying from illegal abortions - "was around 200-250 annually. The figure we constantly fed to the media was 10,000." 2. Vilify the Catholic Church and its "socially backward ideas" inferring that there were no non-Catholic groups opposing abortion. 3. Insist that the "definition of when life begins is impossible; that the question is a theological or moral or philosophical one, anything but a scientific one." Dr. Bernard Nathanson ends by admitting that the motivation was purely for money and with the statement: Abortion History Timeline from National Right to Life This timeline begins with the introduction of the The American Law Institute model penal code for abortion, in 1959.
