THE MOST IMPORTANT PRO-LIFE, PRO-WOMEN LEGISLATION IN FLORIDA HISTORY WAS VETOED BY GOV. CRIST ON JUNE 11, 2010!
HB 1143 was a pro-life and a pro-choice bill. It required that an abortionist give an ultrasound test before an abortion. 82% of the abortion clinics in Florida already do, but they do not all give the woman the option to see or discuss the ultrasound.
This bill did not force the woman to look at the ultrasound or force her to discuss it. But it did require the abortionist to give her the option to see the pictures and to ask questions.
This is a pro-choice bill because it gives woman the opportunity to have as much information as possible before making a choice and isn't that what pro-choice is all about.
Of course the abortionists didn't want this to happen because some women would change their mind about having an abortion and so this bill would hurt their business.
The abortionists and pro-aborts used the pro-life vs. pro-choice debate for their greed.
Within a couple of days of passage of the bill more than a thousand calls hit the Governor's office convincing him that this bill is against woman! They had him believing that the bill forces the woman to view the ultrasound, that the woman would receive a "lecture" and so the bill is "mean-spirited" to put a woman through so much when she is in the turmoil of making such an emotional decision.
If they were really pro-woman they would have agreed that it is time for the other 18% of abortion providers in Florida do an ultrasound before an abortion and it is only for the welfare of the woman that she is allowed to see it and ask questions about it.
All surgical procedures have tests for the safety of the patient and it is a woman's right to have any test to insure her safety for all surgeries including abortion.
PLEASE CALL GOVERNOR CRIST AND TELL HIM THAT YOU ARE REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN HIM FOR NOT SIGNING HB 1143 INTO LAW. TELL HIM THAT THIS WAS A PRO-WOMAN BILL AND HE WAS TAKEN IN BY ABORTIONISTS AND PRO-ABORTS GREED AND THAT YOU WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM.
Calls are the most preferred, faxes second and e-mails third:
The health care bill contains an abortion coverage mandate and would subsidize private health plans in the Insurance Exchange that includes coverage for elective abortion, a clear departure from current law.
The immoral bill that Stupak led pro-life Democrats to vote into law, will usher in an unprecedented surge in abortions across our land with expansive abortion funding into Community Health Centers.
As it also LIMITS American's Opportunity to SPEND THEIR OWN MONEY to Improve the Chances of Saving Their OWN Family's Lives!
PLEASE WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR DON'T LET THE MEDIA CONVINCE AMERICA THAT THIS IS A VICTORY! If you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it as the truth. Hitler

Sen. George LeMieux (R) has consistantly voted in accordance with our pro-life stance. Thank him and tell him that you appreciate his NO vote on the Reconciliation Health Bill.

Sen. Bill Nelson (D) has only voted pro-life once since he has been Senator. He voted for the Child Custody Protection Act (S. 403), which would prohibit the transportation of a minor girl across state lines to obtain an abortion, if this abridges the right of her parents to be involved in her abortion decision under their home-state law, with certain exceptions.
Please call Sen. Nelson and tell him that you do not want Federal funding of abortions in your Community Health Centers. Tell him that, according to abortionists themselves, 64% of abortions are coerced, and that local abortion availability will just increase the abuse of women in your area. The Guttmacher Institute, the statistical right arm of Planned Parenthood, has reported that the greater the availability of abortion, the greater the increase in abortions, thus the greater increase in the abuse of women.
Please call Nelson and tell him you are aware that the February 22, 2010, Obama Administration health care proposal imposes premium price controls on ALL insurance plans, not just those for Medicare-eligible senior citizens. Tell him that it is your right to spend your own money to get an insurance plan that will not deny treatment and thus optimize the chance to save any member of your family.
On Medicare? You should have the right to have a supplemental health insurance plan that will cover any procedure you want. Tell Sen. Nelson that you wish to make your own choices about your health coverage and do not wish the government to put limits on your right to do so.

__________________________ Message from the President...
"Greetings and welcome to the Florida Right to Life website.
The Right to Life movement has accomplished much in the past, but we still have far to go. We continue to educate and advocate on behalf of the unborn, but our cause has also extended beyond the womb to include the elderly and the vulnerable. Human dignity is currently under attack from multiple directions, through embryonic stem cell research, cloning, euthanasia, Medicare "rationing", and by other means. As you can see, our work is only just beginning, and with your help we can accomplish even more.
Florida Right to Life cannot exist without your financial support, since educating people about the complicated new attacks on life and fighting these battles in the courts and the legislature are costly. We are the largest single issue organization in Florida and we will continue to fight and be the voice for the "least of these," from the moment of conception until natural death."
Thank you, Carrie Carrie Eisnaugle, President Florida Right to Life
p.s. To give you an idea of what we are doing, I have listed our Top Priorities.
PRIORITY 1 - We support The Citizens for Science and Ethics Inc. in their efforts to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot which states, "No revenue of the state shall be spent on experimentation that involves the destruction of a live human embryo."
In order to be on the ballot, they need 611,009 petitions signed by registered voters - registered in Florida.
Be aware that there are 2 kinds of stem cell research that are very different and must always be differentiated between.
WE ARE FOR ADULT STEM CELL RESEARCH (ASCR). Adult stem cells are found in the born human body, does not kill, has 73 known cures, and has helped hundreds of thousands of patients.
WE ARE AGAINST EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH (ESCR). Embryonic stem cells are found in the unborn human body which must be killed to harvest their stem cells.
WE ARE AGAINST GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH mainly because it is immoral but also because there are NO known cures, BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in private funding has not proven successful, and so it is a GROSS WASTE OF TAX MONEY.
On May 31, 2007, the Florida state Supreme Court approved the amendment to be place on the ballot contingent on acquiring 611,009 petitions.
PRIORITY 2 - The Florida Abortion Ultrasound bill will require abortion practitioners to conduct and review an ultrasound with all women prior to an abortion and gives the woman the option of viewing the ultrasound. The goal is to provide women with more information as well as reduce the number of abortions.
PRIORITY 3 - FRTL wants to make this happen: Groundwork has begun for legislation to change the law on a state level to recognize the destruction of a pregnant woman and her unborn child through the criminal act of violence be charged with two deaths "regardless" of the timing and age of the pre-born baby. This effort is a result of the Titusville death of twenty-one year old Laura Ann Davis who was four months pregnant when she was strangled to death January 23, 2006. The man charged with her slaying, John Moore, was not charged in the death of the baby because state law hinges on the ability of the unborn child to survive outside of the womb. Please click below and sign our
PRIORITY 4 - Parental Notification law: The "girl's best interest" use in the law is too vague and is allowing judges to grant any abortion requests. Since the law went into effect in 2005, after 65 percent of state residents voted for it, there have been hundreds of requests for the judicial bypass. This was not the intent of Florida voters who approved a parental notification constitutional amendment by a 65 to 35 percent margin. Judges are only supposed to grant it in cases when teens are victims of parental abuse. Minors are routinely approved for secret abortions without their parents’ knowledge. This leaves the law wide-open for the judge to make the determination that any negative consequence to the minor eliminates the parents' right-to-know under the Florida Constitution.
